High Velocity Oxy-Fuel Spray Technology (HVOF)

Klaus Enterprises Ltd. uses the Diamond Jet Spray System. The HVOF system uses high velocity combustion gases to heat and propel metallic powder on to the rod. The exhaust gas, a combination of oxygen and hydrogen, produces a temperature of 5,000   F and an application velocity of 4,500 ft/s (over four times the speed of sound). Under this extremely high temperature and velocity, powder particles injected into the gas stream produce high kinetic energy when they contact the rod. Upon impact, the particles are liquefied to form a very dense, exceedingly smooth coating with high bond strength.

Spray coatings can be Tungsten, Metco II, Babbitting, Nickle Cadmium and Aluminum in either wire or powder form.

The typical sprayed parts are compressor piston rods and pump plungers in corrosive applications. For example, one of our customers had to change their OEM plungers every four months in an application that produced sour water. After replacing these OEM plungers with Tungsten coating they continue to run all of the 5 pumps for more than one year without replacement.
