Piston Rods
Klaus Enterprises is dedicated to the manufacture of
high quality, Tungsten-Carbide coated compressor piston rods to combat wear
and corrosion that is often encountered in gas field and petrochemical
compression service.
Standard piston rods are manufactured from Alloy steel
AISI 4140. In order to minimize rod wear and corrosion, Klaus Enterprises
coats its rods with Tungsten with High Velocity
Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) technology.
Klaus Tungsten–Carbide coated compressor rods offer
these benefits:
1.
Durable to wear and impact.
Tungsten can be sprayed to base metal up to Rc.70 hardness, or a rating of
nine on the Moh scale, surpassed only by diamond which has a rating of ten.
Rod temperature during coating does not exceed 350 F so that the
elasticity limit of the base metal will not be altered.
2.
Resistant to corrosive gases. The addition of Chromium to the base material
provides the resistance required in many corrosive gas applications. Nickel
base coatings may be used for severe corrosion applications.
Other data:
Bond strength > 10,000 psi. Porosity <2%. Oxides
< 2.5%
Final ground rod finish=4-8 micro inches. Finished ground
thickness=.003-.006”/side
Cold Rolled Threading
Klaus Enterprises Ltd. manufactures compressor rods
and studs with rolled threads. Because the grain of the metal follows the
contour of the rolled thread, the rolled threads provide greater strength
and fatigue resistance than conventional cut threads.
